Rūta Dimanta, Raimonds Pauls and others call for compliance with Covid-19 restrictions / Article / LSM.lv

“It’s so little, and so much, if we meet the requirements on a daily basis to avoid getting infected with Covid-19. Even if we are not afraid to get sick ourselves, let’s think about our fellow human beings! ” This is what several well-known and loved people in Latvia tell Latvian Television, calling for epidemiological safety to be observed.

“The situation is so bad that people have to understand that the government is not the only one responsible, every head of the company is responsible, every head of the institution, how he organizes the work in his institution, how to observe distance and hygiene requirements. Every family is responsible, ”emphasized former President, Doctor Valdis Zatlers.

“We said all the time, the household can do everything, but this is the moment when in the family, in their house, we have to follow this principle – 2 meters, a mask, if there is a patient. We are at a different stage of responsibility, and it is everyone who is responsible, not just the government, which will do everything for us.

And we have to act in the worst case scenario, that we are all sources of the virus, and we have to behave like that in public places, ”said Zatlers.

“The other thing that can’t make us euphoric is the expectation of the vaccine. There will already be a vaccine, but will she solve all our problems 100%? Definitely no. And not in one day, because there are also problems. How much she will pay, how effective it will be, for how long. So I would say this – this distance, the old spring slogan “home – soap – 2 meters” and masks will work best. Of course, we may think that this does not apply to us, but it does apply to all of us, because only everyone, consciously understanding the ways in which the virus spreads and acting, will be able to save our entire society. I agree with everyone who says: there is no health – no economy, no economy – no jobs, no jobs – no money and we are all in a deep crisis. So health comes first, let’s take care of it! ” called Zatlers.

Rūta Dimanta, the head of the charity organization Ziedot.lv, also emphasized that “everyone must understand that it is up to me, on my actions, how we get out of the crisis together”.

“We can’t expect anyone else to do anything. Just as I observe how I sit at home, only then will I have peace for myself and my loved ones. You have to stop looking at each other, why it doesn’t do something, but you have to start doing it yourself. As the head of a charity, I see how painful the Covid-19 pandemic has hit their lives, losing loved ones, losing income and losing perspective. And it is very difficult for them to get out of it.

That is why I invite you to think about yourself, your loved ones, to think about those who cannot take care of themselves and are very dependent on us, ”said Diamond.

Andrejs Ērglis, the head of the Latvian Cardiology Center, said that “we just celebrated November 18, November is how Riga was saved from Bermont’s troops, and then we also saw – there were people of faith and people of unbelief. People agreed that in one way or another we had to save Latvia. And I think that’s the way it is. “

“We just don’t know enough about the coronovirus yet, and maybe what we find out later doesn’t matter so much, but what we do now is not so important.

That is why we are not a herd, we are a nation, and a nation that determines the possibility of self-organization and submission to what may not like at all and even individually seems illogical, ”said Ērglis.

“It is clear that this coronavirus is that people are sick, and it is one thing to understand that these rules can be applied to any viral disease that has caused a great deal of damage over the last many years. And increases cardiovascular mortality and many other diseases. Distancing ourselves and following these rules reduces the incidence of influenza, the number of pneumonia and the number of other viruses. We need to understand that if we are careful not to go to the hospital with this virus, which is perhaps even milder than a heart attack, we will save people who need major operations that are not related to Covid-19. And that is why we have to listen to rules that, believe me, do not come easily. We cannot make individual rules for everyone, and that is why. There is a light at the end of the tunnel – there are vaccines. And the second thing, we will know a lot more about this disease, ”said Ērglis.

“I firmly believe that we will expect the next Midsummer and Christmas 2021 in completely different circumstances. Therefore, I strongly recommend to respect, protect others, for the sake of others. I understand all those brave people, but as a doctor I have to be able to protect others.

I call for doing what we have to do and we will prove ourselves as an intelligent nation, ”Ērglis called.

“We will try to do without panic. The situation is serious, I think most Latvians understand it. Let’s observe what is required of us, ”called Maestro Raimonds Pauls.

“If you have to put on that mask – I have her here, I’ll put it on, I can’t walk into the Radio without a mask, then we’ll notice.

However, that discipline is important, let’s refrain for a while, hope to get better, I personally look forward to it, all the concerts, all the Christmas events have been canceled. Let’s sit at home! ” called Paul.

CONTEXT:

During the Covid-19 outbreak in the spring, an emergency situation was declared in Latvia to control the new coronavirus. The situation was stable in the summer, but the morbidity at the end of September fast increased. The government tightened security measures, but the incidence of Covid-19 continued to rise.

In order to limit the spread of Covid-19 in Latvia, the government decided on November 6 to re-declare a state of emergency in the country, which will be in force from November 9 to December 6, new stricter restrictions have been introduced.
