Russians and Japanese organize a badminton tournament in space (video)

Russian astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) symbolically played badminton to draw attention to an active lifestyle, TASS reported.

Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa and his assistant Yozo Hirano, who are also on the ISS as space tourists, took part in the space tournament.

The purpose of the friendly meeting is to draw attention to the active lifestyle, which is of great importance for good health.

The game of badminton was included in the program for physical training of future astronauts by one of the founders of Soviet manned cosmonautics Sergei Korolev in 1960.

This is not the first time badminton has been played on board the ISS. In February 2018, Russian cosmonauts Alexander Misurkin and Anton Shkaplerov, NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hai and Joseph Aqaba, as well as the Japanese Norishige Kanai took part.
