Sergei Golomazov, the artistic director of Mikhail Chekhov’s Riga Russian Theater, explains: “It will be a poetically biographical evening about the work of a unique person, in my opinion a genius poet Chuck, and his poems dedicated to Riga. It was a discovery for me because I am more of a Russian director.

Until now, I didn’t know Chuck, but now I have learned piercing, extensive and deep poetry. “

The theater will open its doors to the first visitors on Friday, when the premiere will be a challenging, ironic and lyrical performance – a concert “Despite” directed by Sergei Golomazov. Actress Veronika Plotnikova will interpret songs of various genres and poems by contemporary authors in the production program.

“These will be my favorite songs that I have wanted to sing for a long time. But I wanted to sing my way.

Through songs and poetry, I want to realize who I am, why I am so contradictory and peculiar.

That is why it is such an autobiographical story, ”says the actress.

In August, the theater will invite spectators to three more premieres – a concert “Raimonds Pauls at the Riga Russian Theater”, a play staged by director Ināra Sluckka – a campaign “Mom” and a movement performance without the words “paraDIZZY” staged by choreographer Inga Krasovska. However, the theater administration is cautious about future plans.

“Let’s see what the situation will be in relation to the pandemic, in relation to our spectators, whether they will have the opportunity to visit our theater,” admits Sergei Golomazov.
