Satellite operator “Tricolor” declared about attacks on Russian satellites by a “neighboring state”. Problems with TV broadcasting have been going on since June 12.
“Since January of this year, all Russian satellite operators have regularly encountered external interference coming from the territory of a neighboring state. The technical services of the operator “Tricolor” successfully suppressed interference, but since June 12 they have become more powerful and longer. Tricolor began to apply new technological solutions to ensure stable broadcasting. So, in the period from July 21 to 25, the operator managed to completely neutralize the interference. However, since July 26, a new powerful wave of attacks on satellite broadcasting in Russia began, subscribers again faced interference on the air of a number of TV channels, the company’s website reports. “The operator’s specialists continue to work in an enhanced mode around the clock.”
As reported EADaily On June 5, the press service of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Kosmicheskaya Svyaz announced that the cooling system of the Russian Express-AM5 satellite, which also provides government and presidential communications, had failed, because of this, its capabilities were limited.
It should be noted that “Tricolor” uses the geostationary satellite “Express-AMU1” (EUTELSAT 36C), built by order of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Space Communication”. On February 10, 2016, the broadcasting of the operators “Tricolor-TV” was transferred from the Eutelsat 36A satellite to the Eutelsat 36C satellite and NTV-Plus.The coverage area includes the European part of Russia, as well as regions of Africa south of the Sahara.
Back in April, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned that Ukraine, with the participation of foreign specialists, was trying to influence Russian civilian communications satellites.
