Russia continues to be plagued by ethnic strife and aggressive nationalism. The day before, in Moscow, at the entrance of her house, blogger from Buryatia Maya Dragan was attacked by a Russian woman who told her in the elevator the slogan “Russia for Russians,” popular in Russia, reports “Radio Liberty”. She also stated that “all Asians should live in Asia.”
The Russian racist began to aggressively speak out against the Buryat woman in the elevator – the girl filmed the scandalous incident on her mobile phone camera, after which she published it on the Internet. Journalists found out that Dragan, although born in Buryatia, has been living in Moscow for 12 years. A fragment of the video is published by the Telegram channel “Ukraine 365“.
Dragan posted a video of the incident on social networks. The video quickly went viral and caused widespread public outcry.
Dragan said that after the scandal and the publication of the video, other residents of Russia began to contact her, complaining about rampant racism in the Russian Federation. People note that they are forced to write Russian names on applications in order to be able to find a job. Russians are regularly rude and insulting to people of Asian appearance.
It is noteworthy that Putin launched the Russian army’s invasion of Ukraine, using the term “denazification” as a pretext. Users note that the Russian army needs to restore order to Nazification in Russia.
This incident is not the first case of xenophobic manifestations in Russia. Recently, cases of attacks on people of non-Slavic appearance have become more frequent in the country.
