Russian Private Military Company “Wagner Group” Withdrawal from Ukrainian City Bakhmut Questioned by Ukraine’s Armed Forces

Evgeny Prigozhin, head of the Russian private military company “Wagner Group”, announced on the 5th that his troops would withdraw from the Udonian city of Bakhmut on the 10th, and also complained that the troops did not have enough artillery ammunition. However, Ukraine’s armed forces have cast doubt on his claims.

Commenting on the matter to Ukrainska Pravda, Serhiy Cherevatyi, spokesman for the eastern bloc of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said the “Wagnerites” would not be allowed to withdraw from Bakhmut at all. This is because Prigojin does not make decisions here, and all actions of the Wagner Group are personally ordered by Russian President Putin.

The TASS news agency reported that the leader of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation, Lazan. Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on the social media “Paper Airplane” on the 5th that the commandos of the Chechen “Akhmat” special forces were ready to replace Bakhmut’s Wagner group fighters. Agence France-Presse reported that Prigozin asked Moscow on the 6th to hand over Bakhmut’s position to Kadyrov.
