Russian Embassy Evacuates Citizens from Sudan War Zone, but Woman with Child Still Trapped in Nubian Metropolis

Almost all Russians who were in the war zone in the capital of Sudan, Khartoum, were taken to the Russian embassy. In a dangerous situation, only a woman with a child remains in the building of the Nubian Metropolis. About 140 people asked the embassy to evacuate the country.

According to the Russian diplomat, the embassy has already made “more than a dozen attempts to rescue them from there, attempts were made from both sides of the line of contact.” “Unfortunately, this church is located just on this line of contact, so it’s guaranteed to take them out of there alive and healthy until the opportunity presents itself, and we don’t want to take risks,” Mr. Chernovol added. According to diplomats, at the moment it is safer for a woman with a child to remain in the metropolis.

Russians who are in relatively safe places away from the line of contact have been advised not to go outside, and they are complying with this recommendation. Diplomats keep in touch with them.

Armed confrontation between the regular army of Sudan and the Rapid Reaction Forces began last week. Its reason was the planned integration of special forces into the armed forces. More than 400 people died in the clashes, more than 3.5 thousand were injured. The parties have already made attempts to agree on a truce, but all of them were thwarted.
