“Russian Citizen Among Victims of Israel’s ‘Shield and Arrow’ Anti-Terror Operation in Gaza Strip”

One of the 12 who died as a result of the anti-terrorist operation “Shield and Arrow” in the Gaza Strip also had Russian citizenship. About it reportedreferring to the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Authority, the Russian propaganda publication RIA Novosti.

The victim is Jamal Abu Haswan. His neighbor and friend Muawiya Yacob, who also has Russian citizenship, said that “a missile hit the apartment where Abu Haswan lived, which led to his death along with his wife and son.”

RIA Novosti also mentions that Hasuan ran a medical facility in the Gaza Strip that specialized in physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation.

However, the agency’s report does not contain information about the reasons for the operation “Shield and Arrow” by Israel, as well as what preceded the decision of the Israeli authorities to carry out this operation.

As Cursor previously reported, on the night of May 9 this year, the Israeli army launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip called Magen va-Hetz (Shield and Arrow). The first strikes resulted in the elimination of three high-ranking leaders of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. Among them were the commander of the northern Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Bakhitini, responsible for organizing the attacks in Judea and Samaria, Tareq Az al-Din, as well as the secretary of the military council of Islamic Jihad, Jihad Ghanem. These terrorists were involved in rocket attacks on Israel and other terrorist attacks in the region.

At least nine people were killed and dozens injured in the nighttime strikes, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. Medical workers express fear that the number of victims could increase, as some of the injured are in serious condition. At the same time, the official statement does not contain information about what preceded the decision of the Israeli leadership to conduct the Magen va-Hetz operation.

It was also reported that one of the senior representatives of the Ministry of Defense said that Hamas did not intend to interfere in future hostilities between Israel and Islamic Jihad. However, he noted that the situation could change at any moment as Hamas retains its capabilities and resources.

According to the official, when planning the operation, the head of the IDF and political leaders called on the attacking side not to attack Hamas, so as not to give it a reason to intervene in the conflict. At the same time, experts believe that if hostilities continue, Hamas may join the fighting in support of its allies.
