Russian battalion battlegroups have been demoted since April in various operations, including attacks on Kiev, Mariupol, Severodonetsk and Lysichansk.
Analysts estimate that subsequent attempts to recreate these BTGs to restore combat power have been unsuccessful.
“Probably since then, Russian forces have been throwing remaining combat power and new personnel, including those mobilized, into poorly trained, equipped and organized special structures with low morale and discipline,” the experts write.
Earlier, British intelligence said that over the past three months Russian troops in Ukraine, probably almost halted the deployment of battalion battlegroups. The war revealed the shortcomings of the concept.
