Russia: school students to learn how to use Kalashnikov rifles

THE BOSS: Vladimir Putin is testing the Chukavin sniper rifle (SVCH 380) in 2018. It is a weapon developed by the Kalashnikov factory.

Russian school pupils aged 15 to 17 will receive “basic military training” starting next school year, including the use of the Kalashnikov rifle.

Among other things, the pupils of the school will learn why Russia is conducting its “special military operation” in Ukraine.

This comes out in a document from the Russian Ministry of Knowledge, reproduced, among others, from Interface and the governing body Rossiskaya Gazeta.

These are the 10th and 11th grades of the Russian school – basically students aged 15 to 17.

– In the subject “elements of basic military training” you have to study military drills and salutes, weapons, including the Kalashnikov rifle, F-1 and RGD-5 grenades, as well as modern shooting exercises and personal protective equipment, are law.

The “coup” in Ukraine

Students will learn about the “coup” in Ukraine in 2014, the “reunification” of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia, the “special military operation” and subsequent sanctions by the United States and its allies, they write Novaja Gazeta.

History is an important subject, and according to the Ministry of Education, an 11th grade student should “understand the importance of Russia in world political and socio-economic processes from 1945 to 2022, know the achievements of the country and its people, and also understand the causes and consequences of the collapse of the Soviet Union,” he says.

A “basic life safety” course will also be held which deals, among other things, with the basics of the army, how to protect the civilian population in “emergencies”, the fight against terrorism and extremism and first aid.

– Propaganda

Already at the beginning of this school year, Russian teachers were instructed in their curricula to tell children that the war in Ukraine is about “protecting the population of Donbass, subjected to bullying and oppression by the Kiev regime” .

– This is pure propaganda and reminds us when we had “political information” on the timetable once a week in Soviet times. We were forced to support the Communists. Now it is Putin’s regime that is trying to win the loyalty of children and their parents, Inna Sangadzhieva, herself a Russian who works in Norway’s Helsinki Committee, told VG.

The news of the schools comes the same day President Vladimir Putin gave a major press conference. Sure, he canceled his big annual press conference this year, which is usually held just before Norwegian Christmas, but he instead spoke on a range of topics on Thursday at a press conference for Russian journalists.
