TikTok has to pay 51,000 euros. The Russian communications supervisory authority had previously complained. TikTok was unwilling to remove videos that featured LGBTQ and feminism issues. In Russia, since 2013 it is forbidden to “advertise” same-sex relationships to children. There are also considerations that this will also apply to adults in the future.
Twitch has to pay 68,000 euros!
The reason is an interview with Ukrainian presidential adviser, Oleksiy Arestovych, on Twitch, which the platform did not want to cancel. According to Russia, Arestovych provided “misleading information” about the air strikes on Odessa in southern Ukraine in the interview. Overall, the Russian government wants to control the Internet more closely. Spotify, the operator of Tinder, Whatsapp and Snapchat also had to pay fines.
