Russia’s regulator Roskomnadzor has blocked access to Alexei Navalny’s website, and Russia is currently trying to access it, saying it cannot be done because of the federal law “On Information, Information Technology and Information Protection.” The request for this restriction is to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia.

The same goes for the sites of his associates such as Leonid Volkov and Lyubov Sobol, for the site of the Anti-Corruption Fund founded by Navalny (already declared an extremist organization), for the sites of Navalny’s headquarters (also recognized as a banned extremist structure) in different regions of Russia, etc.

“This is the Night of the Long Knives,” Leonid Volkov, one of Navalny’s associates, commented on his Telegram channel. According to him, 49 sites were blocked at the same time, including “RosYama” (for potholes and broken roads), “RosZhKH” (for communal problems) and “Alliance of Doctors”.

The law stipulates that the prosecutor’s office may request that websites be blocked if they contain “calls for riots, extremist activity or participation in mass events held in violation of the established order.”

The same applies in other conditions, such as the publication of “information materials of a foreign or international non-governmental organization, the activity of which is recognized as undesirable on the territory of Russia, as well as information allowing access to the listed materials”.
