It can be seen from the figures above, that Russia has the most nuclear weapons than any other country, including more than the US. Russia has 5,977 warheads, 550 more than the United States. Even though the number of Russian warheads has decreased compared to the previous year (6,255). The number of US warheads was also reduced compared to the previous year (5,550).
The combined nuclear power of the two countries accounts for more than 90% of global nuclear weapons. Other countries that have nuclear weapons include Britain, China and France. There are also India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea. Indonesia is not included.
UN Council’s 5 Nuclear Countries Resolute Statement
The five nuclear-armed permanent members (P5) of the United Nations Security Council (UN Council) released a statement as of January 3, 2022. The five countries are:
