Russia has mined recommended sea routes from the Bosphorus to Odessa and said they are Ukrainian mines, says Andriy Klimenko, editor-in-chief of BlackSeaNews and co-founder of the Black Sea Institute for Strategic Studies.

“Real danger at sea: The Russian Federation has mined the recommended routes from the Bosphorus to Odessa and declared that they are Ukrainian mines. Another dangerous misinformation from the enemy, ”writes Klimenko on his Facebook page.

According to him, on Friday, the port of Sochi sent a warning to shipowners and masters in the region about the danger of an explosion of Ukrainian naval mines drifting in the Black Sea.

According to a warning signed by Vyacheslav Rumyantsev, the captain of the port of Sochi, storm-torn anchors installed by the Ukrainian navy (approximately 420) approached the ports of Odessa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhna.

The warning advises shipowners and masters to pay special attention when sailing in the south-west and north-west of the Black Sea due to the possibility of exploding on drifting mines.

According to Klimenko, the warning is aimed at disrupting merchant shipping in the Black Sea and calls for the immediate introduction of NATO’s Permanent Mine Trawling Team.

Klimenko pointed out that “in principle, mines drifting in a stormy sea cannot be counted – only the person who installed them can do so”.
