Zakharova underlined the concerns of Russian leaders that the internal conflict in Haiti could be manipulated by external players for geopolitical purposes.
The Russian Foreign Ministry denounced the bold and demonstrative assassination of the President of Haiti.
“Moscow is following closely the investigation into the murder of Jovenel Moise, which is believed to have occurred as a result of internal instability in the country,” Zakharova told a news conference.
Jovenel Moise, who has ruled Haiti since 2016, was shot dead at his private residence outside Port au Prince on the morning of July 7. His wife suffered injuries in the attack.
