“Russia Claims to Destroy US-made Patriot System with Hypersonic Missile in Kiev Airstrike”

Sky News and the Guardian reported on the Russia-Ukraine war real-time update on the 16th that Russia claimed to have destroyed a US-made Patriot surface-to-air defense system with a hypersonic “Kinzhal” missile during an overnight air raid on the Ukrainian capital Kiev.

Three people were injured in several waves of Russian land, sea and air attacks on Kiev early this morning. The Russian Ministry of Defense said it also carried out “high-precision” attacks on Ukrainian troops, ammunition and storage facilities, adding that “objectives were accomplished”.

Earlier images showed Ukrainian fire brigades fighting a fire in a parking lot in Kiev. The mayor said several vehicles were set ablaze by the falling debris and a building was damaged. The Ukrainian army also claimed to have shot down 18 Russian missiles, including a salvo of six Kazan missiles.
