‘Russia cannot maintain frequency of airstrikes’

Despite Russia’s recent airstrikes against Ukraine, Russia will not be able to “maintain” the “frequency” of the attacks. That is what General off duty says, Mart de Kruif. “They can’t maintain the frequency we saw in the first few months because Russia has fewer missiles.”

According to De Kruif, the aim of Russia’s attacks is to ‘reduce the morale of the population’ and to ‘get refugee flows going.’ He sees that reflected in the latest missile attacks. “Russia is mainly trying to knock down Ukraine’s energy system.”

Russia itself claims that the latest attacks are in retaliation for attacks on two Russian villages. But De Kruid believes little of that. “We don’t even have evidence that those attacks took place on Russian soil. And then again: this is not proportional. If something happened and you then hit back with 80 missiles and cruise missiles, which are mainly fired at civilian targets, then that is not in line with each other.’

Which, according to De Kruif, is also a goal of Russia with the attacks: to ‘saturate’ Ukraine’s air defenses. With this, Russia can try to land the bulk of the missiles on their target. That campaign is actually still going on, but they are now labeling it ‘retribution’.’
