Mikhail Mishustin, primer ministro de Rusia, authorized the autonomous ship operation tests, which will run from December 2020 to December 31, 2025.
The government decree details that it will include autonomous vessels flying the state flag of the Russian Federation, registered by captains of seaports in the regions of Krasnodar, Primorsky Territory, Khabarovsk Territory, Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Magadan, Leningrad, Murmansk, Rostov and Sakhalin, as well as in St. Petersburg.
The main tasks of the experiment are to test in practice the systems and processes for controlling an autonomous vessel, to develop technical solutions for autonomous navigation systems, to confirm the possibility of operating autonomous vessels in these regions, and others.
The participants in the experiment are the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Transport, Rosmorrechflot and autonomous shipowners, stated SeaNews.
