Russia Attacks 17 Ukrainian Military Facilities, Claims to Kill More than 200 Troops

MOSCOW – Armed Forces Russia said they had attacked 17 military facilities Ukraine with high-precision missiles on Saturday and also destroyed a command post and warehouse used to store rockets and artillery.

In an online post, the Russian Defense Ministry also said an air force strike during the day killed more than 200 Ukrainian soldiers and destroyed 23 armored vehicles. Al ArabiyaSunday (1/5/2022).

The post did not mention the attack on Odessa airport which the local governor, Maxim Marchenko, said had been hit by a Russian missile.

Earlier, Marchenko said the Russian strike had destroyed the runway at Odessa airport in southern Ukraine.

“Today, the enemy attacked with the Bastion coastal defense missile launched from Crimea. Odessa airport runway has been destroyed. Thank God there were no victims,” ​​the governor said on his Telegram account.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, said Russian troops were gradually increasing the intensity of their attacks in eastern Ukraine simultaneously in all directions.

Moscow withdrew its troops from the area around the capital, Kiev, several weeks ago to move them to eastern Ukraine.
