Russia and the BRICS countries will work on a single currency. Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about this.
“The issue of the BRICS single settlement currency is very complicated. We will move in this direction,” Vladimir Putin stressed during the BRICS summit in South Africa. He participated via video conference call. The summit will be broadcast by the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
During the summit, Brazilian President Lula da Silva supported this idea. The new currency could potentially become an alternative dollarsaid the Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Anton Siluanov.
