Rush on solar panels causes long waiting times: “Customers sometimes have to wait up to three months” | Inland

Due to the sky-high energy prices, the Flemings are looking for alternatives en masse. “The demand for solar panels has tripled”, says an installer. According to the sector federation, waiting times are up to three months.

Are solar panels still affordable without a reversing counter? This is what Roger Vanparys of Test-Achats says:

Since the start of the energy crisis in October last year, installers have seen the demand for solar panels and heat pumps rise exponentially. This is evident from a survey by our newspaper. After the first surge in the autumn, a second boost came in February, when the conflict in Ukraine erupted and energy prices skyrocketed.

Among the installers we spoke to, the demand for solar panels has increased by 250 to 300 percent in less than a year. “The share of solar panels previously accounted for 15 percent of our work with difficulty. Heat pumps, solar panels and home batteries already make up 90 percent of our orders,” says DGS Solar from Baal in Flemish Brabant.

Dirk Van Evercooren of ODE, the sector organization for sustainable energy in Flanders, confirms that there is a major rush. “Now that energy bills are peaking, there is again a strong growing interest in green energy via solar panels,” he says. “We hear from our installers that the order books are very well filled. Customers sometimes have to wait up to three months for an installation.”
