Rumen Radev: Society said “no” to the captured state – 2024-04-11 19:46:56

/ world today news/ We can no longer allow the wasting of historical time, the president believes

Our society is still looking for a way out of the corrupt status quo, but it has already said “no” to the captured state and the restoration of authoritarianism. It is time for a national consensus. President Rumen Radev said this in his speech during the opening of the new, 47th National Assembly.

“We need a political consensus of the reformist forces around the need for sustainable, reformist, social governance,” Radev pointed out and added that the fate of the political system depends on this, which cannot bear another early election in the middle of the winter season.

“For the first time within a year, we are forming a third National Assembly. The previous two members of the parliament were short-lived, uncomfortable truths were heard from their rostrum, important issues were raised, but they failed to form a stable majority and appoint a cabinet,” noted Radev.

The loss of confidence in the political class is evident in the withdrawal from the polls during this year’s election marathon, the president told the deputies.

We can no longer allow historical time to be wasted, nor be subject to populism and lies, emphasized Rumen Radev.

The President stated that on Monday he will call the party leaders to consultations for a government.

The society expects the updating of the voter lists before the number of voters has exceeded the number of the population, he added.

If we want this parliament to be lasting and useful, it should bring public life back to the law, the president said.

Rumen Radev addressed the deputies saying that it is worth considering the budget, which the caretaker government is obliged to submit to the parliament by law.

Radev outlined the strengthening of statehood as the most important immediate national goal.

“We need unwavering action to continue dismantling the governance model rejected by the voters, to assert the rule of law, to remove the backroom from the state, to stifle corruption, to strengthen transparency and control over public wrongdoing.”

It is up to you this parliament to close an era of transition, summed up the head of state, addressing the people’s representatives.
