Rudy Gobert makes peace with Donovan Mitchell

Rudy Gobert played down the apparent friction between himself and Utah Jazz teammate Donovan Mitchell, saying they recently spoke for the first time since testing positive for the coronavirus.

“It is true that we did not speak for a while after this, but we did speak a few days ago,” Gobert said on social media Instagram. “We are both ready to go out there and try to win a championship for this team.”

Mitchell, who later tested positive, was upset by Gobert’s careless behavior before the center knew he had been infected.

On Sunday, Gobert noted that the pair of Jazz All-Stars is on the same page.

“It is not about not being professional,” Gobert said. “You know, everyone has different relationships, it’s never perfect. People who are married are never perfect. So, you and my teammates are far from perfect. But at the end of the day, we both want the same thing.” added.

Since the season suspension, Mitchell’s only public comments regarding his relationship with Gobert have come during an appearance on March 16 on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

“To be honest, it took me a while to calm down. I’m glad he’s okay, I’m glad I’m okay. I’m really happy, to be honest,” he said.

Gobert, who said he received death threats in the days following his positive test, reiterated that any problems between him and Mitchell had been blown out of proportion.

“There is no fight,” Gobert said.
