The former president of the Romanian Boxing Federation, Rudel Obreja, sentenced to prison with execution, together with Elena Udrea, in the “Gala Bute” case, is hospitalized, diagnosed with cancer. Obreja’s wife accused the other day that her partner’s health had deteriorated dramatically in prison and that he had been transported to the hospital late, although he was in a critical condition.
On Sunday, Obreja also comes out with a post on his personal Facebook account, asking for his prison sentence to be interrupted, accusing him of critical pain due to the illness he is facing:
„My dear friends,
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart to all those who have mobilized exemplary in support of my cause, MY LIFE, the RIGHT to LIVE, with my wife, my children, all of you.
I need treatment in HUMAN conditions, the care of doctors and my family, extremely important in the current context and here’s why:

- I stay in a hospital ward, almost all the time with infusions, which alleviates my severe pain;
- I am guarded by guards in the saloon, melee, day and night
- I don’t have a phone, only 5 visits per month of my wife, so I don’t have the ability to move to start treatment or surgery.
I ask to be recognized the RIGHT conferred by the Law, of the interruption of the execution of the sentence, in order to start the medical proceedings in Romania or abroad! I WANT TO LIVE! But for that I need Procedures… I respectfully ask the Specialized Commission from the National Institute of Forensic Medicine Mina Minovici, to be constituted in due time for the elaboration and presentation The Medico-Legal Expertise Report to the Ilfov Tribunal, so that the Court can rule within the term already established for 20.7.2022. Any postponement due to the lack of this INML Expertise Report complicates my chances! The documents in the Medical File, drawn up by the two Hospitals are CLEAR, only their confirmation by INML is needed. Am cancer with metastases. CRUNT! With GOD’S WILL, I have a chance to be treated / operated. I repeat, any delay reduces them! Even though I received two ILLEGAL convictions, the violation Laws and the Romanian Constitution to be sent to prison, I never evaded, I will not do from now on. As you can see, I am appealing to the Law Enforcement in this Country OPTIMISTIC… CURABLE… at least CANCER! ”
