Rubén Darío National Theater Celebrates Literary Modernism in Gala Event

The main hall of the Rubén Darío National Theater was dressed up this Thursday night to remember the prince of Castilian letters and the highest representative of literary modernism in the Spanish language.

The director of the most important cultural institution in Nicaragua, Ramón Rodríguez, said that every year the National Theater remembers Darío with the aforementioned work, which he described as a classic with important recited pieces.

“We think that, through music, although Rubén Darío’s poetry itself is very musical, we also achieve that young people, students can receive poetry, receive Rubén Darío’s work through music,” highlighted the also orchestra director.

During the gala attended by dozens of Nicaraguans, as well as members of the diplomatic corps accredited here, a dance show of original music created for the story “The Burgués King” (1917) and the Triumphal March of Rubén Darío, set to music, was presented. by teacher Raúl Martínez.

The activity also served to celebrate the 54 years of the founding of the aforementioned cultural center, which, according to its director, in the last 17 years has been an institution for the people of this Central American nation, with tangible support from the Government.

According to Rodríguez, the above demonstrates the efforts of the Sandinista Executive to promote art and culture, and added that the institution has not been cloistered in its walls, but rather develops permanent cultural activity in the different departments.

“We also support the initiative of independent groups, we have inaugurated this year the classical theater season, the children’s theater season, and above all an effort that we have made with the Incanto foundation around the promotion of opera and zarzuela,” he stated. .
