The Russian-language TV channel has significantly increased its audience after the closure of the PBK News Service this spring.

As the audience of “PBK” decreased, the share of viewing time of “RTR Planeta Baltija” increased, reaching the historically highest indicator in August.

Until now, the leader in terms of audience among Russian-speaking channels was “PBK”, whose viewing time share from time to time exceeded 9%. In July, PBK was the third most watched channel with an 8% viewing time share, while during the month it decreased to 6.4%, reaching one of the lowest figures in the history of measurements.

In 2019, the National Council of Electronic Media banned the retransmission of the channel “Rossija RTR” in the territory of Latvia for three months. The council had made a similar decision in 2016, at that time, however, banning retransmission for six months. Those decisions concerned irregularities in the programs broadcast by the program.
