RTL Today – Mobility of the future: 150 flying taxis soon to be marketed

Lilium, the German manufacturer of eVTOL (vertical take-off and landing aircraft) has concluded a major contract with NetJets, the largest private airline in the world, to put 150 aircraft into service.

These funny flying machines called eVTOL for electric vertical take-off and landing, translate vertical take-off and landing device, represent the mobility of tomorrow. They appear to be the solution to the problems linked to traffic jams in large cities.

NetJets, the largest fractional ownership business jet operator in the world, intends to order 150 of these machines from the German start-up Lilium.

They also plan to support Lilium with a private sales campaign allowing individuals to purchase Lilium aircraft and explore a business model for operating Lilium’s network in Florida as well as other parts of the United States and from Europe.

The Lilium Jet will accommodate six passengers and a pilot. It is powered by 36 electric motors, six on each of the two front fenders and twelve on each rear fender.

In Luxembourg also some of these devices should fly soon. Luxaviation, the leading business aviation operator in Europe, is partnering with the German start-up Lilium to operate its 7-seater flying taxi from 2024.

lily employs more than 700 people, including around 400 aerospace engineers. Founded in 2015, the company is located in Munich, Germany.
