Royce de Vries Reveals Struggle with Sleep After Father Peter R. de Vries’ Death

“I still have trouble sleeping,” says Royce, who also says he needed sleeping pills after his father was shot. “I don’t just sleep on sleeping pills, to be clear. But sometimes I have stages where I don’t sleep well. You notice that you’re a little more aware of that because of everything that happens. To me, it shows that I don’t sleep well.”

However, Royce reveals that he doesn’t ‘really’ find it difficult to talk about family. “It’s something I’ve done a lot over the last two and a half years. A little because I had to. But it’s also something that helps a little to process what happened,” he saying. “Of course I’m not talking about everything, I also think it’s important to keep things private.”

Looking back on the time after his father’s death, Royce says he has become more ’emotional’. And his wife Amanda also says that he is a ‘different person’. “We really had a life in which we celebrated things. We only did fun things. Life laughed at us. That changed a lot two and a half years ago.”

Royce says they had to endure a lot of misery, ‘including things that happened privately too’. “So yes, it’s not always easy. It’s not easy living with someone who has had to deal with such a loss. I also sometimes get anxious or my head is off. The then she tells a nice story and I look out the window. That’s not always easy.”

Royce recently faced him in court A.D. The newspaper has obtained tapes in which you can hear Peter R. de Vries talking to Khalid Kasem about possible bribery of an official.
