King Filip, Queen Mathilde and their four teenage children went on a trip to Limburg on Saturday. They made a bike ride in and around Bokrijk. A nice family outing. But also the ideal way to promote tourism in your own country, especially in this corona crisis.

The royal family made a trip of 20 kilometers on the bicycle route network in Bokrijk. On the way, they got off at the Bokrijk open-air museum to visit the Bruegel exhibition, which was extended after last year’s success.

Furthermore, Filip, Mathilde and their children discovered Cycling through the Water , passing 200 meters across a pond, from one bank to the other. In the middle they experienced how the water was at eye level on both sides. Finally, they visited Holsteenbron campsite on the Bokrijk provincial domain.

With this trip, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde want to support the tourism sector in Belgium, now that the summer holidays have (almost) started.
And now vacation
For princess Elisabeth (18) it has been going on for a month anyway. She graduated from her international boarding school in Wales last month. But not in the way she had hoped: because of the corona crisis, she had to return to Belgium to receive home education for the last two months of the school year.
At the end of August, the heir apparent starts a new phase in her school career: she will follow an army course at the Royal Military School in Brussels.
Gabriel (16) had his last day of school last Wednesday. His first year at the International School of Brussels (ISB), in Watermael-Boitsfort, is now over.

The prince was in fifth grade. Or better: the 11th grade , because he is taught in English at the ISB. The private school has 1,550 students of 70 nationalities, mainly children of expats from Europe, America and Asia. Their parents are diplomats in Brussels or hold top positions with multinationals. The registration fee is 39,515 euros per school year.
The youngest two children of Filip and Mathilde have to go to school for two more days. Emmanuel (14) goes to Eureka, a school for children with learning disabilities, in Kessel-Lo near Leuven. And Eleonore (12) follows the sixth grade at the Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege in Brussels, where her older sister and brothers once attended classes.
