Liverpool pressed from the left in the 34th minute. Nunez cut to the middle and fired a shot that Courtois was still able to parry. Courtois again thwarted Liverpool’s opportunity two minutes later from Cody Gakpo.
Liverpool pressed Madrid quite aggressively in the remainder of the first half, but it was not fruitful. No goals until halftime.
