A fire raged for a short time in a hotel in the center of Rotterdam. After its outbreak, the fire department issued an eviction notice, but before all 400 guests had left the property, the fire was already under control.
The fire in the Art Hotel broke out at the end of the evening on the third floor. Soon the flames exploded from the building and there was a lot of smoke. The fire brigade decided to evacuate the entire twelve-story hotel.
Shortly after midnight the fire was extinguished. At that time, about sixty hotel guests had been evacuated, says a spokesman for the Safety Region. Four people were checked for smoke inhalation. One person has been taken to hospital.
The fire appears to have started in an air conditioning device on the third floor. The local fire department shared images of the fire on Twitter:
