Rotterdam art center Witte de With gives way to censorship and immediately renounces name – The Daily Standard

The Rotterdam art center Witte de With has renounced its controversial name with immediate effect. Earlier, the building was already defaced by furious BLM activists.

The art center, which is incidentally located in the Witte de Withstraat, does not yet have a new name. The WE writes that the art center immediately proceeded rigorously. For example, the letters have been removed from the building and only nameless stationery is used. The name Witte de With has also been completely erased on social media.

The art center has borne the name of the 17th century Rotterdam fleet guardian Witte Corneliszoon de With for exactly thirty years. In 2017, the art center already indicated that it wanted to change their name, but so far nothing had happened. Until the art center became a victim of BLM vandalism and still tackled.

A new name will not be announced until the end of January next year, but it will not surprise anyone that it will likely be dedicated to the BLM movement.
