Rotevatn does not intend to challenge Melby as Liberal leader

– I do not intend to challenge a unanimous attitude that we can assume has great support in the party. I am highly motivated to be deputy leader and contribute to a good leadership trio, says Rotevatn in an interview with NRK.

The election committee in the party came on Sunday with its recommendation for the leadership election, which will take place at the national meeting in September. Guri Melby is at the top as leader, while Minister of Climate and Environment Sveinung Rotevatn and Minister of Culture Abid Raja have been nominated as 1st and 2nd deputy leaders, respectively.

Rotevatn answers the question as to whether he excludes that he may run as a leadership candidate if there is a bench proposal at the national meeting:

– I have been a leader candidate, I have been very motivated to become a leader in the Liberal Party. But there are many other good candidates for it, and Guri is a very good candidate as leader of the Liberal Party. And I support Guri as leader of the Liberal Party. I think that will be good. And then I do not intend to challenge a unanimous attitude that we can assume has great support in the party.

In an SMS to NTB, Rotevatn Melby congratulates the setting.
