Room Fire in Offenbach Nursing Home Results in 2 Injuries: Details on the Extensive Fire Brigade Rescue Operation

The Offenbach fire brigade was on Tuesday (June 13) until late in the evening in a fire in a nursing home.

Offenbach – On Tuesday (June 13) around 8 p.m. a fire broke out on the second floor of a nursing home in Offenbach. This is reported by the fire department. Two people were slightly injured.

“Due to the seriousness of the incident and the special nature of the building, all emergency services of the professional and volunteer fire brigade of the city of Offenbach am Main as well as additional managers and rescue services were immediately alerted,” reported the emergency services in a press release. On site, the firefighters recognized that a senior citizens’ apartment on the second floor was already fully engulfed in fire and that there was a person on the balcony.

“Through a simultaneous and comprehensive extinguishing and rescue operation, one person could be rescued via the turntable ladder and another person by the task forces inside and handed over to the emergency doctor present,” the Offenbach fire brigade continued. The remaining 31 residents of the affected part of the building were brought outside by the emergency services and, if necessary, given medical care.

The extinguishing measures led to “fire out” being reported as early as around 8:30 p.m. However, due to the inspection of the apartments on all seven floors and the necessary ventilation measures, the operation lasted until late in the evening. “Originally five injuries were reported, but after the medical examination it turned out that only two people were slightly injured. These were taken to the hospitals in Offenbach,” it said in conclusion. (csa)
