“Romelu Lukaku scores two goals to lead Inter Milan to victory against Sassuolo on 30th birthday”

Romelu Lukaku scored two goals to carry Inter Milan defeat Sassuolo. The perfect birthday for the Belgian striker.

Lukaku started with Joaquin Correa when the Nerazzurri hosted Sassuolo at the Giuseppe Meazza, Sunday (14/5/2023) early morning WIB. Inter are trying to get three points in order to maintain their top four position, while Lazio and AC Milan failed to win.

Inter, who played aggressively from the early minutes, were only able to open the scoring in the 41st minute through Lukaku’s left-footed shot from outside the penalty box. Ruan’s own suicide and Lautaro Martinez’ goal early in the second half made it 3-0.

Sassuolo had scored two goals, before Lukaku’s second goal in the 90th minute ensured victory for the hosts. Such a satisfying result because Inter has continued its positive trend in the last seven matches in all competitions.

Lukaku has been instrumental as he has scored seven goals and four assists since February, the most of any player. Lukaku has quietly scored eight goals in Serie A despite his career being plagued by injuries.

Even sweeter for Lukaku is the match against Sassuolo which coincides with Lukaku’s 30th birthday who was born in Antwerp, Belgium. It is this performance capital that can make Lukaku trust coach Simone Inzaghi again for the rest of the season.

However, Lukaku didn’t want to think about that and chose to focus on giving his team a win.

“Of course all players want to start, but it’s the coach who makes the choices for the team. And as I said, the important thing is Inter and I want to give everything for the team.” Romelu Lukaku who has scored 12 goals in 31 matches as quoted by Football Italia.

“I’m happy because we won the match, that’s the most important thing for us because they (Sassuolo) when we play at home,” Lukaku added as quoted Sky Sports.
