More than 4 million low-income people will receive financial aid of 1,400 lei for heating, food and hot meals.
The money will arrive next year in 2 installments. 700 lei in February and another 700 lei in December and can be used until December 2023.
The beneficiaries of this aid will be:
- pensioners of the public pension system, pensioners registered in category pension registers and beneficiaries of rights granted by special laws, aged 60 years or over and whose monthly income is less than or equal to 2,000 lei
- pensioners with an invalidity pension, regardless of age and whose monthly income is less than or equal to 2,000 lei.
- persons classified as severely, severely or moderately disabled, whose monthly income is less than or equal to 2,000 lei
- families benefiting from the family support allowance, pursuant to Law no. 277/2010, with subsequent amendments and additions
- families and singles who have established the right to social assistance.
On the other hand, people with an income exceeding 2,001 lei will not benefit from the aid, despite the fact that they are equally affected by the huge price increases of the last period.
The definitive rankings will be drawn up by the Ministry of Labor and the vouchers will be distributed by the Romanian Post Office.
“We thought about this mechanism through the Romanian Post, because we have all forms of energy consumption in mind,” said Marcel Boloș, on Antena 3 CNN.
«We have two installments, 700 lei, twice a year. And here we have in mind the cold season, that is the season that goes from October-November and goes on until March-April.
This energy card has no nominal value, but entitles the beneficiary to use the amounts we send by postal order. The money is transferred from MIPE to the Romanian postal accounts and from there the post debits these amounts to postal money order accounts.
At the post office you show up with the supporting documents of the energy consumption you want to pay and, by post, we make the settlement of the energy consumption more flexible”, added the minister.
The support will be granted in the form of a voucher printed and distributed by the Romanian National Postal Company, valid on the territory of Romania, which will entitle the holder to benefit from the support for:
- electricity
- thermal energy in a centralized system
- gaze
- gas tank
- Wooden by fire
- tar
- pellets and other heating materials
