Roger Waters hits the Polish authorities. He wrote a letter to the fans. “They didn’t ask your opinion”

After the open letters addressed to Olena Zełeńska, Joe Biden and the Krakow councilor Łukasz Wantuch, there were music Pink fluid, Ruggero Waters, decided to write a statement addressed to Polish fans. It refers to the situation in September, when, following the boycott of some fans and – according to the artist – of the local authorities, he was considered persona non grata, and of his concerts as part of the “This Is Not A Drill” tour, which celebrated the golden age of the Floyds, were canceled. Waters is of the opinion that the voices of those who, regardless of philosophical differences, wanted to hear his repertoire live have been omitted.

Thieves in the Polish government

Co-founder of one of the most important teams in history progressive rock does not lose hope that there are still people in Poland who appreciate his works. -Dear Polish fans-you started an open letter published on November 7, 2022 on the official Facebook profile, and concluded it by saying that you still want to visit our country with a peaceful message. She also informed that despite the controversy (German authorities also appealed to cancel Waters’ performances and the musician also addressed fans there), his concerts were still very popular. He cited a sold out concert in Prague as an example. He also referred again to the local authorities in Krakow.

Recently, I have been concerned that I have not opposed the Polish government’s henchmen strong enough. They canceled my shows in Krakow without talking to me and, above all, without asking you POLISH FANS if you want to see them or not. They said they banned me from visiting Poland because I was writing letters trying to persuade Western, Russian and Ukrainian leaders to find a diplomatic solution to the terrible war in Ukraine.

Waters explains. The musician had previously denied canceling his performance in Krakow. “Your newspapers are wrong when they say that my management or I have canceled my upcoming concerts in Krakow, we have not,” he said in September. The letter addressed to the Polish fans also shows that he does not intend to apologize for his views on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

I wrote these letters, I will not apologize. I will always do what I see fit and fight for human rights and peace.

– he stressed.

Waters supports his views

Waters also wrote that it is not just the conflict between him and his opponents that is still present. The war in Ukraine is still a real problem and, according to the music, the world still does not react adequately, which also affects our country. He mainly criticized the actions of the Americans, supporting the position expressed in the letter to Biden.

The slaughter continues and seems to get worse as we add fuel to the fire. The sanctions the United States imposed on the Russian Federation in February backfired as Russia responded by cutting off gas supplies to Europe, causing chaos. Instead of dealing a deliberate blow to Russia, it brings bad luck to the peoples of Europe, including Poland. European citizens are victims of a Washington regime determined to pursue its hegemonic dream of world domination at the expense of Europeans.

– we read. Earlier, Waters called NATO’s activities and mobilization in organizing weapons for Ukrainian soldiers “pouring fuel on the fire”. In a letter to Zelenska, he also blamed radical Ukrainian nationalists, calling Ukraine “an extremely nationalist country”.

“I still want to come to Poland”

Waters stresses that he is committed to a peaceful resolution of the conflict, which should be a priority for all. This is also the nuance of the conclusion of his letter to Polish fans.

I am not writing to make political speeches. I just want you to know something. I still want to come to Poland with a message full of peace and love. If someone says “But he is an anti-Semite and a Putin lover”, tell him to fuck because they are wrong on both counts. I love you.

– wrote the artist, strongly denying the accusations of both anti-Semitism and sympathy for Putin. You heard such an accusation because media reports on Russian war crimes were labeled as Western propaganda. The recipients – Polish fans – intervened under the post. Some people call him “a megalomaniac trying to explain the world to them”, others claim he is still welcome in Poland. There is still no official response from the representatives of the Krakow authorities.
