Rolex and Roger Federer are a perfect combination of class and elegance. The Swiss Maestro showed off the new Perpetual 1908 at the Met Gala last Monday, but this weekend in Miami Federer wore and showed off a completely different new Rolex.
As reported by GQ, the Swiss attended the game between the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat, and the F1 race in Miami. On this occasion, Federer presented the brand’s new Rolex Cosmograph Daytona.
Federer’s version of the new Daytona won’t hit stores until October. The Daytona arrived on its 60th anniversary of launch and received a facelift to commemorate the occasion.
This is the first revision of the watch since 2016. In 2017, a vintage version of Paul Newman’s model briefly held the record for the world’s most expensive wristwatch when it sold for 17, $8 million.
The most visible changes are to the indexes and counters, both of which have been considerably simplified. There is a new movement, a watch engine, with technology that Rolex has introduced over the past six years.
The biggest change is the inclusion of what’s called the Chronergy escapement, which Rolex says is more efficient and helps its watches run longer without being wound. In addition, for the first time on a Rolex sports watch, the movement is visible through a transparent sapphire crystal caseback.

The Perpetual 1908 is a new formal watch from the famous brand which has its roots in the Submariner, Daytona and GMT-Master lines. Federer publicly wears a white gold, black dial version of the 1908 for the first time on the 2023 Met Gala red carpet.
The 1908 is Rolex’s first all-new model since the launch of the Sky-Dweller in 2012. It replaces the now-discontinued Cellini. The 1908 is the first in the Perpetual collection to focus on more traditional models.
In addition to Federer’s white gold version, the piece is available in white gold with a white dial and in yellow gold with a black and white dial. Rolex describes the dial tones as intense black and white.
Roger said: “I believe that true style is the perfect balance between colors and textures. In the most important moments, it is necessary to match the accessories.
