Roeselare refuses the arrival of fast food chain McDonald’s near valuable nature reserve

The McDonald’s location was planned on the corner of Moorseelsesteenweg and Oude Zilverbergstraat in Rumbeke. The Council of Aldermen of Roeselare does not think the environment is suitable for this. The fast food restaurant would be too close to the Sterrenbos and the Bergmolenbos. The city council wants to keep those forests clean and tidy, a McDonald’s branch would work against that. The impact of such a restaurant cannot be reconciled with the greenery and nature, it sounds like.

There has been a McDonald’s branch in the Brugsesteenweg in Roeselare for years. It is not known whether the chain is now looking for another location for a second location.
