Rodney Ferguson, 13-year-old boy with autism disappears in Brooklyn – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – A 13-year-old boy with autism disappeared in Brooklyn on Monday night, and the city’s Notify NYC system issued an alert asking for help finding him.

The notice says Rodney Ferguson may be in imminent danger.

Ferguson, who is staying at a temporary housing facility in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn campus of the New York City Children’s Center on Bergen Street, was last seen on that same street around 8 p.m. Monday.

It is possible that he is still in the area and is believed to be with a 15-year-old boy, Christopher Dixon, who was also staying there. Dixon has also been reported missing.

Ferguson is roughly 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds, while Dixon is said to be roughly the same height and weighs 156 pounds.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS, the local NYPD district at 718-495-5429, or 911.

Recently published data suggests that 1 in 44 American children are affected by autism. Autism numbers in the US have been on the rise for several years, but experts believe that reflects increased awareness and greater availability of services.
