Rocket League will soon become free on all platforms

The reputation of Rocket League, the popular hybrid of racing and soccer, is well established, but the game could become even more popular in the coming weeks as it goes free on a multitude of platforms.

The developer of the title, Psyonix, made the announcement on his website this Tuesday, stating that Rocket League would adopt a “free to play” model from summer 2020.

In doing so, the game will then be accessible free of charge on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, through the Epic Games Store. At the same time, Rocket League will disappear from Steam. Existing users will, however, be able to continue playing it on the Valve platform, receiving future updates … at least until further notice.

As for those who paid for the game, they will receive as compensation various aesthetic items, as well as all DLC published before Rocket League ne devienne «free to play».

The studio said the update that will make its popular free online title “one of the biggest to date and will include major changes to tournament and challenge systems,” as well as an inventory that will be transferable to any platform.

let’s remember that Psyonix was bought by Epic Games last year, which partly explains the possible withdrawal of Rocket League on Steam.

However, it is not clear when all of these changes will take place. Admittedly, “summer 2020” is not bad at the moment, so it should probably not be too late!
