Rock Werchter 2023: Festival Review and Experience

In 2016, the British band Editors still headlined Rock Werchter, but this year they were programmed in the Barn. It turned out to be much too small.

Already during the concert by Ben Howard, who was programmed for Editors in the Barn, the red crosses irrevocably appeared at the entrance. The tent – capacity 25,000 – was full, and it would stay that way for the entirety of Liam Gallagher’s concert on the main stage.

Meanwhile, the area around the Barn was full of people, of course especially around the big screen where you can still catch a glimpse of the concert. There too there is singing along, dancing and clapping, and fists are thrown into the air during the choruses.

Editors has always been much more popular in Belgium than outside, and apparently the organization and the band now had the idea that closing in the big tent was more appropriate. It is difficult to say whether the main stage would have been as full as well, but one thing is certain: the large new Barn is still much too small for Editors.
