Roche boss won 11.5 million in 2019

The boss of Roche Severin Schwan earned slightly less in 2019. He received a total of 11.5 million, after 11.8 million in 2018. The fixed portion remained unchanged at 4 million francs.

Among the various components are among other enjoyment certificates and securities with a blockage of ten years. Due to this long blocking period, Roche takes this form of remuneration into account with an impairment of 55.8%. If these securities are fully taken into account, Mr. Schwan’s compensation amounted to 14.2 million francs for the past financial year.

More than the boss of Novartis

By way of comparison, the general manager (CEO) of Novartis, Vasant Narasimhan obtained 10.6 million francs for his services in 2019, certainly an increase but which remains lower than that touched by the director of Roche.

All members of the management shared an envelope of 38.0 million francs for 2019, against 39.3 million for 2018, according to the annual report published on Thursday. These figures also take into account payments to former members of management.

Chairman of the board of directors Christoph Franz earned 5.7 million francs, the same amount as a year earlier. His compensation also exceeds that of his Novartis counterpart, Jörg Reinhard. The latter received 3.8 million francs for 2019.
