The device is equipped with wheels and cameras and can disinfect itself. It is designed so that doctors no longer need to be in the same room as the patient. “All doctors are extremely brave,” says Professor Zheng of Tsinghua University in Beijing, “but the virus is simply too contagious. That is why we now have robots perform the most dangerous tasks. ”
If everything goes according to plan, some robots will have their first working day on Sunday. Some doctors already criticize: the robots would not be very reassuring for the sick.
The coronavirus first broke out in China and hit the country badly. More than 80,000 people have now been infected there, including many doctors who have worked with infected patients. Almost 3,000 people have died from the effects of the virus.
