Robert Kubica continues his Formula 1 career with the Italian team of Alfa Romeo. At the end of 2019, he lost his seat at Williams, but thanks to sponsor PKN Orlen, he fulfills the role of reserve driver this year. That completes the circle for him: Kubica made his debut in F1 at Sauber, where he also achieved his only victory.
PKN Orlen, a Polish oil and gas station chain, signed a multi-year deal with Alfa Romeo and becomes co-sponsor of the team. Kubica succeeds Marcus Ericsson, who went through life as a reserve driver in 2019. Whether we see Kubica in action in 2020 during various free training sessions is still unknown.
