Robert Downey Jr.’s father has been battling Parkinson’s for five years
Robert Downey Jr.’s father has died at the age of 85 after five years battling Parkinson’s disease. The legend in the film business, director, actor, screenwriter died in his sleep at his home in New York, said his wife Rosemary Rodgers.
His most memorable roles are from “Magnolia”, “Boogie Nights”, “Living and Dying in LA”.
Robert Downey Sr. has had three marriages – the first with actress Elsie Annie Downey, from whom he has two children – Alison Downey and Robert Downey Jr. They divorced in 1975 and he married actress Laura Ernst, with whom he was until her death in 1994.
In 1998, he married writer Rosemary Rodgers.
