RIVM: growth of infections stabilizes • Mandatory masks at Amsterdam schools

Zandvoort tops the list with the relatively most corona infections in the past five days. The seaside resort has an average of 23.37 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past five days. This makes the municipality one of the fastest climbers in the municipal figures of the RIVM. The cause is not clear.

Between Monday August 10 and Monday August 17, the number of infections in Zandvoort increased from 46 to 70. The week before, the number of infections had risen from 40 to 46.

After Zandvoort, Maassluis (12.64 infections per 100,000 inhabitants), Amsterdam (11.98), Diemen (11.70) and Delfzijl (11.35) and Rotterdam (11.18).

In absolute numbers, Amsterdam and Rotterdam are far ahead of other municipalities in terms of the number of new infections. Between 10 and 17 August, 734 new cases were registered in Amsterdam and 606 in Rotterdam, followed by The Hague (304), Utrecht (117) and Almere (95). A week earlier there were 24 new cases in the latter municipality. In Bergen op Zoom, the number of infections detected decreased, from 120 to 53.
