RIVM alert to cases of polio and measles

Bilthoven

An infectious disease control doctor from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) says that the institute will remain extra alert to infectious diseases such as polio and measles. During the corona pandemic, there was a 1 percent drop in the number of babies vaccinated against mumps, measles and rubella (MMR) and diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus and polio (DKTP).

RIVM also keeps an eye on infectious diseases because of the arrival of refugees from Ukraine, where the vaccination rate is relatively low. Children from Ukraine are still offered the injections upon arrival in the Netherlands. At the end of March, RIVM also sent a letter to reformed organizations urging them to remain vigilant for polio.
