Risma Angry in Tuban about Social Assistance: Where Does One Month’s Money Go?

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini scolded the Head of the Tuban Social Service, Eko Julianto, during a visit in Sendangharjo Village, Subdistrict Tuban, East Java, on Saturday (24/7). Risma was angry because she found that the Non-Cash Food Aid (BPNT) or the basic food program had only been disbursed for two months.

The video of Risma scolding the Head of Social Services for Tuban has gone viral on social media and has been confirmed by the Head of the Public Relations Section (Head of Public Relations) of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Yani.

Risma’s anger was triggered by the social assistance money that should have been distributed directly for three months, but was only disbursed for two months.

The monthly social assistance money from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is IDR 200 thousand. The details are Rp. 165 thousand for 15 kg of rice, Rp. 26 thousand for eggs and Rp. 9 thousand for tempeh. The social assistance is given for the months of July, August and September.

Risma asked the Head of Social Affairs and the Regent of Tuban regarding the allocation of the BPNT money. Risma also asked where the one month BPNT money that should have been given to the social assistance recipient went.

“I ask now, where is the money for one month?” asked Risma.

“Still on the card [kartu keluarga sejahtera]. We anticipate that now it will not be sold…” Eko replied.

Risma is getting angry. He said he did not accept the practice of distributing social assistance in the field like in Tuban. Because, he claims to have tried so that social assistance can be given to people in need.

Risma also questioned the method of distributing social assistance in Tuban through state-owned banks (Himbara). In other words, there is an interest count in it too.

“Regent born finish with the head of department. I don’t accept it, sir. I’m having a hard time, sir. So they can be okay. Now I ask, who will receive the flowers? He doesn’t accept BPNT cards, they don’t hold cards, it’s different from PKH. You can’t do that, sorry for them,” said Risma.

On that occasion Risma also gave a warning to the Head of Social Affairs and the Regent of Tuban regarding budget cuts. According to him, the budget cuts for the Tuban area have the potential to be carried out if Finance Minister Sri Mulyani finds out about the incident.

“If Mrs. Sri Mulyani finds out, your budget will be cut by Tuban. It can’t be arranged,” he said.

The Head of Public Relations of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Yani, said that Risma could not impose sanctions on the regent and Kadinsos of Tuban. This is because the relationship between the Ministry of Social Affairs and regional heads is coordinating.

“Mother has always been firm on all matters that do not meet the transparency and accountability aspects. If the Ministry of Social Affairs and regional heads have a coordinating relationship, they cannot impose sanctions,” said Yani to CNNIndonesia.com when confirmed, Monday (26/7).
