The “Bavaria” is a discontinued model and now has to make way for new LED technology: Rimsting decides on 144 new street lamps. What the whole thing should cost and what the new lighting looks like.

Rimsting – The “Bavaria” street lamps are a discontinued model, the manufacturer no longer produces them. Since the municipality of Rimsting wants to energetically modernize the entire municipal street lighting system and switch to LED lamps, the municipal council dealt with the topic in its most recent meeting. The question was: “Only replace the lamps with LED inserts or replace the 30 to 40 year old Bavaria lights with more modern and uniform lights?”.

At the most recent meeting of the Rimstinger municipal council, Franz Fischer came up with the information that the “Bavaria” was no longer produced by the manufacturer. He referred to the “City Light plus” model, which is already attached to the gymnasium or in the surrounding area.

For the municipality of Rimsting, which had already decided in advance to tackle the energetic refurbishment of the street lighting, this means a double advantage, because on the one hand, according to Fischer, the proportion of the costs that is eligible for funding has increased from 70 to 75 percent and on the other hand, the “City Light plus” lamps are 15 euros cheaper than the “Bavaria”. Fischer also had a cost calculation with him and referred to the total costs of around 211,000 euros for a quantity of 144. Fischer explained that these 211,000 euros are subsidized by the state with around 158,712 euros.

In addition to the remaining 52,904 euros, the costs for the engineering office would add around 9,520 euros, Fischer continued. “But there is also a 50 percent subsidy from the state,” he emphasized, quantifying the costs that Rimsting would ultimately face at 57,664 euros. If all 144 lights were the new “City light plus” with LED instead of “Bavaria”, then the purchase costs would have been amortized within two and a half years due to the savings in electricity costs. The committee unanimously endorsed the switch to the new lights and the replacement of the old ones. When asked, Fischer explained that the commissioned engineering office Veit from Munich (the council also voted for this) would carry out this exchange.

Grants are still pending

Furthermore, Fischer explained that the municipality had not yet received any notification from either funding agency, but the municipal administration promised to stay on the ball.
